About David
Air Force pilot for 20 years
David Floyd is a Nelson County native who was born and raised on the principles of hard work, family values, and giving back to the community. A graduate of Bardstown High School, David earned his Bachelor's degree from the Air Force Academy and went on to serve honorably for 20 years in the US Air Force, flying U-2 reconnaissance missions and overseeing a squadron of more than a hundred aviators during Operation Desert Storm.
After receiving the Bronze Star for combat service, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, David returned back home to Bardstown. There, he and his wife, Cheri, raised their two beautiful daughters, Mindy and Beth. It was also in Bardstown that David began his work as President of Windsor Gardens, a retirement community that offers seniors the opportunity to live independently and still receive the personal healthcare they need.
Today, David is a member of the Bardstown Optimist Club, the American Legion, National Rifle Association, and the Chamber of Commerce. He is also a Director for the Nelson County Economic Development Agency, which works to encourage business development and job creation for the greater Nelson County community.
Representing the People
Since his election in 2004, David Floyd has been a strong voice for his community in the halls of Frankfort, and his leadership skills and record of producing results has not gone unnoticed. In 2009, his colleagues in the House of Representatives elected David as one of just three leaders for the minority caucus. He also serves as Vice-chair for the Military Affairs & Public Safety Committee, as well as the Licensing & Occupations, Rules, and Transportation Committees.
David will continue to serve on the principles for which he was first elected -- keeping taxes low, cutting wasteful spending, and fighting for the hardworking families of our community.
